Russian diplomat: The upcoming refugees conference to be held in Damascus has only humanitarian goal

Russian Ambassador to Jordan, Gleb Desiatnikov , has stressed that the international conference on refugees to be held this month in Damascus is purely humanitarian event that aims to bring back refugees to their homeland and has no other goals as some parties circulate.

He pointed out that some parties seek to

deprive the conference from the required international support.

Desiatnikov’s remarks came during an interview with Sputnik.

The Russian diplomat affirmed that the Syrian state is doing its utmost to bring back refugees to their country, and this urgently needs support from regional states and the international community in general.

He clarified that the voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their homeland as soon as possible can be one of Moscow’s top priorities for resolving the situation in Syria.
