Russian Defense: The Chernobyl plant area is under control and 118 Ukrainian military facilities disrupted
Moscow (ST): The Russian Ministry of Defense announced full control of the area where the Ukrainian nuclear plant Chernobyl is located.
Sputnik quoted the ministry’s spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, as saying in a statement :“Yesterday, units of the Russian Air Force took full control of the area where the Chernobyl nuclear plant is located, and it was agreed with the soldiers of the battalion in charge of protecting the plant on joint security measures for the power units of the plant,”. The nuclear plant will serve the facilities in normal mode and monitor the radiological situation.”
The statement added “Measures for the defense of the nuclear plant ensure that no nuclear provocations are carried out by terrorists or Ukrainian nationalists”.
In a statistic about the achievements of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov said that “five aircraft, one helicopter and five drones were shot down, 18 tanks, a number of other armored vehicles, seven rocket launchers, 41 units of special military vehicles and five boats were destroyed.”
The spokesman added, “The Russian armed forces during the military operations also disabled 118 facilities of the Ukrainian military infrastructure, including 11 airstrips, 13 command and communication points, 14 S-300 and Osa missile defense systems, and 36 radar stations.”
“More than 150 Ukrainian soldiers have laid down their arms and surrendered to the Russian forces, including 11 soldiers from the 53rd Ukrainian Motorized Division in the Nikolaevsk region,” he added.
