Russian and DPRK defense ministers discuss cooperation between the two countries

Pyongyang-(ST), Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held talks with his DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) counterpart Kang Sun Nam on developing bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation.

RT website quoted Shoigu as saying during the meeting that was held in Pyongyang today: “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is an important partner for Russia,” adding, “We have common borders and a rich history of cooperation.”

Shoigu expressed his intention to continuously develop bilateral relations in all fields, expressing his conviction that the talks will help strengthen cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries.

Shoigu pointed to the post-war interaction between the two countries, the exchange of official visits and training to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

The visit comes within the framework of strengthening military relations and it represents an important step in the development of cooperation between the two countries, according to RT.

Shoigu is in Pyongyang, heading a high-ranking military delegation, to attend a celebration on the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the 1950-1953 war with the main support of Moscow.
