Russian ambassador hits out at Turkish drone sales to Ukraine

ANKARA, April 4. /TASS/. Deliveries of Turkey’s Bayraktar combat UAVs to Ukraine have triggered a backlash from Russian society, Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexey Yerkhov said on Monday.

“I cannot fail to mention the issue that I am often asked here: how do we feel about the supply of Turkey’s Bayraktars to Ukraine? Well, I’ll be completely honest: you can’t even imagine how badly these supplies are viewed by Russian society. Explanations like “business is business” won’t work, since your drones are killing our soldiers, that’s the reason why they are being purchased. So, why should we like this?” the ambassador argued.

In 2021, Turkey supplied Ukraine with combat drones, which have been used in Donbass, and are banned by the Minsk Agreements. The German and French foreign ministries voiced their concern following reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had used a Bayraktar drone.
