Russia: Washington obstructs efforts to condemn Israel in the Security Council

Russia announced that the United States opposes and obstructs any efforts in the UN Security Council to condemn the brutal Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip.

Russian Deputy Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said, according to Novosti Russian News Agency: “The United States does not want to condemn “Israel” and also it doesn’t want the Security Council to take any action that could jeopardize the Israeli ground operation in Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that Washington is against calls for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip, even though this is what the international community is counting on.

The United States continues to use its veto power in Security Council meetings, rejecting any resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid, or any settlement related to the Palestinian territories. However, it calls for issuing resolutions that recognize “Israel’s” right to self-defense, but refrains from calling for a ceasefire.
