Russia Vows to Respond in Kind to The Expulsion of its Diplomats from Italy

The Russian Foreign Ministry vowed to respond in kind to Italy’s decision to expel its diplomats from Rome, according to Russia Today.

Italy, France and Denmark had decided earlier today to expel dozens of Russian diplomats from their territories.

The French news agency, quoting sources close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Paris “decided to expel 35 Russian diplomats,”. Similarly, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had “decided to expel 30 Russian diplomats,” while the Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod announced, after an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Policy Council, that his country had decided to “expel.” 15 Russian diplomats.

The Danish Foreign Minister claimed that the diplomats “are engaged in intelligence activities and must leave the country within the next 14 days.”

Several European countries have previously taken similar steps in the context of the mounting pressure campaign on Russia against the backdrop of its military operation to protect Donbass.
