Russia unveils an alternative to a gas pipeline (North Stream 2)

Moscow (ST): Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that the “Power of Siberia 2” gas pipeline could be an alternative to the “Northern Stream 2” pipeline.

In an interview with Russia 1 TV channel, Novak indicated that Russia expects in the near future to compensate for the volume of gas exports that were going to Europe by concluding an agreement with China on supplies through the “Power of Siberia 2” gas pipeline.

The construction of the “Power of Siberia 2” gas pipeline is expected to begin in 2024 and be completed in 2029, linking the Siberian fields and Xinjiang in China.
