Russia: Two persons involved in financing a terrorist organization in Syria arrested

Moscow (ST): The Russian authorities have arrested two persons involved in financing a terrorist organization in Syria.

TASS quoted a source in the Russian law enforcement authorities, whose identity has not been revealed, as saying today that “investigations related to the financing of the so-called“ Sermon Al-Tawhid and Jihad ”terrorist group affiliated to the terrorist organization“ Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham ” led to the arrest of two persons of Uzbek nationality in the“ Novosibirsk ”regions and Tomsk, Western Siberia.

Last June, the Russian Supreme Court declared that the so-called “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” was considered a terrorist organization, confirming that its name is directly linked to the terrorist organization Al-Nusra Front, previously banned in the country.

It is worth mentioning that after the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra was included on the international terrorism list, the organization worked to change its name and announced the formation of the so-called “Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham” in 2016.
