Russia says it is deeply concerned over current escalation in occupied Palestinian territories

The Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday expressed Moscow’s deep concern over the escalation taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories after the Israeli occupation’s raid on Jenin Camp on Thursday that killed at least 9 Palestinians and wounded tens others.

“We are monitoring events with deep concern and call on all parties to practice utmost degree of self restraint in order to avoid more tension,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry pointed out that the latest events clearly indicate the urgent need to resume the negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, stressing Russia’s readiness to provide assistance in achieving the comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian Israeli conflict, given the fact that Russia is a permanent member of the Security Council and a member of the Quartet on the Middle East.
