Russia’s Putin Congratulates President Al-Assad on Syria’s Independence Day

DAMASCUS, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad  on Tuesday received a congratulation cable from President Vladimir Putin of Russia marking Syria’s 71st Independence Day.

In his cable, Putin confirmed Russia’s firms and constant support for peaceful settlement of the crisis in Syria through wide national dialogue that  leads to stopping the shedding of the Syrian blood and unifies the Syrians in fight against the forces of international terrorism and extremism.

 According to the cable, Putin reiterated willingness to provide effective support for peaceful settlement  in Syria, for the sovereignty of the Syrian state and for the protection of the country’s territorial integrity

The Russian president expressed confidence that the deep-rooted  Russian-Syrian friendly relations will develop continuously , serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries and help attain regional and international security.

President Al-Assad also received congratulations on Syria’s Independence Day from Presidents of Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Cuba, India, Democratic Korea, South Africa, Indonesia and Turkmenistan.

The presidents congratulated Syria, as a government and people, on this occasion and expressed hope that security and stability will be restored soon to the country. They affirmed their keenness on deepening the friendship and cooperation relations between their countries and Syria.
