Russia’s ambassador to Washington: Washington is tarrying in destroying its large stockpile of chemical weapons

Russia’s ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov  confirmed that the United States is the only country that has large stockpiles of chemical weapons while it is tarrying in its destruction under various pretexts.

“Washington’s decision to include a number of Russian research institutes on the “blacklists”, under the pretext of their contribution to military chemical programs, raises questions”,  Russia Today quoted Antonov as saying today, indicating that his country wants an explanation regarding this decision.

“We drew attention to the decision of the US Department of Commerce, which  surprised and bewildered us, especially since it did not provide any evidence to prove this accusation,” Antonov said. “We call on the American side to stop looking for problems that do not exist and to exert every effort to accelerate chemical disarmament.”

Antonov  pointed out that Washington ignores that in 2017 the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons confirmed Russia’s full compliance with the provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of Existing Stockpiles of Chemical Weapons.

The  US Department of Commerce enlisted on Wednesday the Russian Central Institute for Scientific Research No. 33,  three facilities belonging to the Central Scientific Research Institute No. 48 of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Russian State Scientific Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology in the so-called “blacklist”, alleging that these institutes participate in the production of chemical weapons.

It is noteworthy that some of these institutes played a major role in Russia’s reaching of the first vaccine against the Corona virus in the world.
