Russia’s Achievements in Syria ‘Anger’ Washington

United States leadership has been annoyed and angered by Russia’s achievements in its counterterrorism efforts in Syria, since Washington is backing several terrorist groups which are fighting to overthrow the Syrian, Contra Magazine asserted.

The US government and intelligence services “trained, armed and provided military support” to “al-Nusra Front, the so-called “Free Syrian Army” and other terrorist groups to destabilize and overthrow the government in Syria,” the Austrian media outlet added.

According to the publication, this is the true goal of Washington’s campaign allegedly aimed at destroying the so-called “Islamic State” but to cover it up the US launched a massive media campaign to demonize Moscow. Contra Magazin dismissed such claims as “pure nonsense” since Russia “is the only country which the Syrians formally approached to fight terrorism.”

Moscow came to the rescue as quickly as possible. It took Russia only four days to transport fighter jets, helicopters and personnel to a base in Syria and launch airstrikes against ISIL targets, the media outlet explained.

“Within three weeks ISIL was crushed. The ongoing bombing campaign is aimed at getting rid of terrorists in coastal areas. Russia and Syria can now … hold talks with opposition groups and call an international conference. The US is fuming,” Contra Magazine noted.

The media outlet added that Putin, unlike Obama, improved his image by adhering to diplomacy and political veracity.
