Russia reaffirms its commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity

The Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Michael Bogdanov has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that during a meeting with Syria’s Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad on Friday,  Bogdanov stressed Russia’s firm support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and for the Syrian people in the confrontation of international terrorism.

Bogdanov-Haddad meeting focused on developments in Syria as well as on enhancing the Russian-Syrian cooperation mainly in  reconstructing the economic and social infrastructure in Syria.

In a relevant context, Bogdanov and The UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen discussed in  a phone conversation preparations to hold meetings of theu fifth round of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
