Moscow (ST): Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Kinchak expressed his country’s readiness to assist Iraq in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

In an interview with RIA Novosti, Kinshak said, “Russia is ready to assist Iraqi partners in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the supply of radioisotope products, as well as training Iraqi cadres in Russian universities specialized in related fields, in addition to its readiness to implement major joint projects. The two relevant bodies in the two countries, namely the Russian State Corporation Rosatom and the Iraqi Agency for the Control of Radioactive Materials, are working jointly to modernize the bilateral regulatory framework and sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the peaceful use of atomic energy.”

On another subject, Kinshak emphasized that Russia was and will continue to faithfully implement its commitments in the field of food supplies to Africa and the Middle East, despite the illegal Western restrictions imposed on it.
