Russia expresses concern about US support of separatist trends in Syrian Jezira

Moscow (ST): Russia has expressed concern about the latest developments in the Syrian Jezira saying that the US was sparking separatist trends there.

Sputnik news agency quoted the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign ministry Maria Zakharova as saying in a press conference that there were recurrent US attempts to ignite separatist trends in the Syrian multi-sect state, noting that the situation in north-east Syria arouses deep concern.

She referred to the unilateral American measures represented by bringing in military convoys to the Syrian territories.

Earlier, Director of the International Organizations Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry Peter Elitchev affirmed last June that Washington’s activities in Syria are centred on encouraging and funding the separatist militias to the north east of Syria capitalizing on the illegal trade of the plundered Syrian oil.

The US occupation troops in collaboration with QASAD militia are dominating the majority of the Syrian oil fields in the Syrian Jezira with the aim of looting them.
