Russia: Exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes from the Winter Paralympics is illegal

On March 3rd, the Russian Paralympic Committee described the International Paralympic Committee’s decision to exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the Winter Paralympic Games, which begins in Beijing tomorrow, as illegal.

The Russian Paralympic Committee said it reserves the right to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The International Paralympic Committee announced yesterday that it will allow the Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in these games as neutrals and under the banner of the Olympic flag without being included in the medal table.

The Winter Paralympic Games will start on March 4th in Beijing and will continue until March 13.
