Russia, China, India reiterate the continuity of their support to Syria

MOSCOW, Nov. 26, (ST)- Russia, China, India reiterated on Friday the continuity of their support to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the necessity of reaching a political solution to the crisis in the country, in addition to adopting all the necessary actions to rebuild it.

In a joint statement issued following a meeting between the foreign ministers of the three countries via video, they asserted that there is no military solution to the crisis in Syria, affirming the continuity of support for the peaceful political process under the auspices of the UN.

The statement underlined the importance of providing humanitarian aid to the Syrian people without obstacles besides supporting the efforts of the country’s reconstruction process.

TASS quoted the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as saying: “The Russia-India-China (RIC) format has contributed to building a multipolar world order and rule of international law, and is a key global and regional policy factor.”

“The RIC format remains one of the key factors of global and regional policy, recognized in ensuring security, improving the architecture of transnational relations in the Asia-Pacific region as well as promoting broad economic integration in the Eurasian space. The development of our ‘troika’ is an integral part of the process to shape a more just and democratic multipolar world order with UN coordination. In addition, it contributes to establishing such universal values as multilateralism, equality, and the rule of international law on the world arena,” the foreign minister clarified.
