Russia calls for holding a Security Council session to discuss ISIS attacks in the northeast of Syria
Russia’s first deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy announced on Wednesday that Moscow has called for holding a Security Council meeting for discussing the attacks launched by ISIS terrorists organization in the northeast of Syria.
“We are deeply concerned about reports on recent ISIS attacks in northeast Syria and about the general situation in this part of the country, said Polyanskiy in a statement to journalists, pointing out that he asked for holding the meeting on Thursday.
He added that Moscow called for holding a separate meeting during which the envoys are expected to listen to the report of the UN Chief as well as the Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Department Valdimir Voronkov and other UN General Secretariat representatives on the latest developments in the northeast of Syria.
