Russia calls for ending the foreign military presence that violates Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity
Russia has reiterated that ending the foreign military presence that violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic is essential for achieving sustainable stability in this country.
“Because of these actions, all efforts towards a political settlement are doomed to failure,” Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky was quoted as saying at a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday, “therefore, it is necessary to stop the airstrikes on Syrian territory, which foil all efforts to reach a political settlement in the country.”
The Russian diplomat added that the key to peace in Syria could be for the West to abandon its stubborn anti-Damascus positions and establish normal, equal relations with the Syrian Arab Republic based on mutual respect.
