Russia and Iran renew their demand for the immediate withdrawal of illegal foreign forces in Syria

New York (ST): Russia renewed its demand for the immediate withdrawal of foreign forces illegally present on Syrian territory.

Dmitry Polyansky, the first deputy representative of Russia to the United Nations, said at a UN Security Council session held at Russia’s request last night  “We demand the immediate withdrawal from Syria of all foreign forces who are there illegally.”

Polyansky stressed that Russia, in cooperation with the Syrian government, will not stop fighting terrorism in Syria, and said, “The Syrian forces, with the support of the Russian Air Force, continue to pursue and eliminate (ISIS) terrorists in Syria.”

Polyansky pointed out that in areas where the United States is directly involved in oil theft, an environmental catastrophe is gradually unfolding, and at the same time, the United Nations does not provide any assessment of what is happening in this regard.

In the same context, Iran has renewed its firm position to respect the sovereignty and unity of the Syrian territories and to end the illegal foreign presence on it, and to demand the cessation of Israeli aggression and the full lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Zahra Ershaidi, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, said in a speech during the Security Council session “The fight against terrorism should not become a pretext for violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria,”. She stressed that the continued occupation of parts of Syria is an essential element to create suitable conditions for more terrorist acts in it, and that must end quickly.
