New York, (ST) – Russia’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Anna Yevstigneva confirmed that the United States, by using pressure and blackmail, has forced the Security Council to give a license to “Israel” to kill the Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
The RT website quoted the Russian diplomat as saying in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly: “The dirtiest tools of pressure and blackmail, which our American colleagues call cunning effective diplomacy, were used, and after several days, the United States made sure that the original intent of the draft resolution on Gaza had been distorted completely”.
Yevstigneva added: Instead of calling for a cessation of hostilities, a formulation with a completely opposite meaning appeared by calling for creating conditions for a teh cessation of hostilities, which is, in fact, a license for “Israel” to kill Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
She stressing that Washington played an extremely unscrupulous game in order to preserve complete freedom of action in Gaza for its main ally in the Middle East.
Yevstigneva said that Russia is guided by the unconditional moral imperative to save civilians in Gaza and it cannot allow the Security Council to sign a document designed according to American patterns that would bless the continued extermination of the people of Gaza.
Yevstigneva’s words came in response to the United States’ use of its veto power against the amendment proposed by Russia to the resolution on the Middle East, which calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
Russia’s representative to the UN Security Council, Vasily Nebenzia previously confirmed that the United States included a dangerous element in the draft resolution it adopted that allows “Israel” to cleanse Gaza Strip.
In a related context, Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani condemned in his speech America’s unlimited support for the crimes of the Zionist entity, and said that despite repeated requests from the international community to the Security Council to fulfill its obligations and stop the bloodshed in Gaza, it has failed once again to do so only because of America’s opposition to the ceasefire.
Iravani pointed to the abuse of the veto by the United States and its opposition to the ceasefire in Gaza Strip. He said: The United States’ obstruction of the implementation of the duties of the Security Council in accordance with the United Nations Charter strongly contradicts global demands to stop the bloodshed and defies inherent human nature to preserve human life and violates basic principles of international law, including humanitarian law and human rights.
Iravani stressed that Iran affirms that the only practical way to prevent and stop the criminal aggression and genocide against innocent civilians in Gaza is to reach a stable and permanent ceasefire, ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid, stop military operations, and prevent the forced displacement of the population of Gaza Strip.
