Russia and China veto a draft US resolution regarding Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip

Russia and China voted on Wednesday a US draft resolution at the UN Security Council that did not call for a ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip.

“The American draft resolution was not balanced and didn’t reflect the required call for a ceasefire, and therefore it cannot be allowed to be adopted because it will completely lose the Council’s credibility.” Russia Today website quoted Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, as saying during a Security Council session on Wednesday.

In turn, the Chinese Representative to the Security Council confirmed that the American draft resolution equates the victim with the executioner, and does not reflect the required call for a ceasefire.

He called for opening humanitarian corridors, delivering aid to Gaza Strip and preventing the forced displacement of its people.
