Russia and China renew rejection of illegal unilateral measures imposed by the West on other countries

Russia and China have renewed their rejection of the illegal and unilateral measures imposed by Western countries on other countries in an effort to impose their hegemony on the world.

“Russia and China reject the geopolitical games and illegal unilateral sanctions that Western countries are increasingly and frequently using. They consider the United States’ attempts to destroy the legal international structure  by relying on political-military alliances dating back to the era of the Cold War is a destructive approach,’ TASS quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as saying at a joint press conference with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi today in the Chinese city of Guilin.

The Russian Foreign Minister pointed out that “the entire structure of relations between Russia and the European Union and all the mechanisms that were created for many years have been destroyed due to the unilateral steps taken by Brussels against Moscow.”

He added that Russia would be ready for any contacts to increase interaction and communication between the two sides in the event that Brussels showed the intention to do so and to overcome differences, adding that building relations should be on the basis of equality and the pursuit of a balance of interests..

“At the present time, we do not see a change on the western front, while on the eastern front we have an intense agenda that becomes more diversified every year,” he added. “The USA and its partners were trying to dictate their own will on other countries and obstruct the establishment of the multi-polar democratic world. Unfortunately, some of the Western countries, led by the United States, are trying to obstruct the establishment of the true multi-polar democratic world, attempting to maintain at any cost their dominance in the global economy and international politics, and to obtrude upon everyone their will and demands.”

Lavrov underlined the urgent need to mobilize common positions to support justice and adhere to the principles of the United Nations Charter that Westerners ignore and try instead to impose their own rules on everyone.

On the relations between Russia and China, Lavrov expressed the two countries’ determination to boost bilateral relations between them . This matter applies to issues of trade transactions, bilateral settlements and other horizons that make us stronger.

He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping plan to adopt a joint statement marking the 20th  anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the two sides.

The Russian foreign minister pointed out that Western countries are trying, without any right, to represent Beijing and Moscow as “adventurers” in the field of so-called “vaccine diplomacy,” and this is certainly not true.

For his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister announced the automatic extension of the good-neighborly treaty between the two countries for another five years, noting that  this treaty “established over the past twenty years a solid legal basis for the sustainable development of Russian-Chinese relations and contributed to the development of bilateral relations.” He expressed his confidence that the treaty will help both parties to reach new agreements and to develop relations.
