Rouhani Warns of Regional, Global Repercussions of Adventurism in Middle-East

TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned of the dire consequences of foreign military intervention in Syria, saying that such a move will have large-scale repercussions for the entire region.

“The world people, especially the people of the Middle-East region, do not accept a new war, and any adventurism in the region will pose irreparable dangers to the stability of the region and the world and will merely lead to the spread of extremism and terrorism in the region,” Rouhani said, addressing a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

He cautioned that the US and its allies’ threats to use force against Syria are a flagrant violation of international undertakings, stability and security.

Rouhani said it seems that a group of people are trying to divert the world public opinion from the realities in Syria and misuse the savage use of chemical weapons against the Syrian civilians as a pretext to impose their dangerous views.

He called on the UN inspectors to carry out unbiased investigations to identify the culprits behind the chemical weapons use in Syria, and said, “Each and every measure should be taken with respect to the sensitive situation of the region, rapid ending of the internal crisis, and prevention of extremism in the region and in the framework of the international rules and regulations.”

Western countries, including the United States, are allegedly considering a military invasion of Syria under the pretext of the use of chemical weapons in the country.

Russia has presented the UN Security Council with documents proving that the rebels have conducted the latest chemical attack which took place on August 21.

The US regional allies have recently increased their anti-Syrian government  efforts. Saudi National Security Council Secretary and Intelligence Chief Prince Bandar Bin Sultan has recently had a secret meeting with UK’s MI6 Director Sir Robert John Sawers to brief him on Riyadh’s support for the terrorists  fighting the Syrian government in Syria, sources disclosed on Sunday.

“At the meeting, the Saudi intelligence chief briefed Sawers on Riyadh’s latest moves on Syria, including the supply of over 400 tons of weapons to the terrorists   in Syria via Turkey,” an informed source, who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of his information, told FNA.
