Rouhani: US presence in the region is the main cause of destabilization

Tehran, (ST) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani affirmed that the presence of the American occupation forces in Syria is illegal, as it contradicts the will of the Syrian state, pointing out that the American presence and the approach followed by Washington in the region are the main reason for destabilizing its security.

During his meeting today with Dutch Foreign Minister Steve Black in Tehran, Rouhani said that” if America stops its terrorist acts and its interventionist policy, the region will become naturally safe”.

Rouhani called on the people of the free world to condemn the illegal US ban against the Iranian people, noting that the nuclear agreement serves the interests of the region and the world, and that Washington’s withdrawal from it harms the peoples of the region, the world, and the American people themselves.

 Zarif discusses with his Dutch counterpart the situation in Syria and bilateral issues

In the same context, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed with Black bilateral, regional and international issues, particularly the situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

The two sides discussed during the talks the nuclear agreement and the European financial mechanism (Instex) in addition to the repercussions of the terrorist assassination operation that targeted Commander Qassem Soleimani by the American administration.

The two sides also underlined the necessity of strengthening and developing bilateral relations between Tehran and Amsterdam in all fields.
