Rouhani, Putin Founders of Flourishing Tehran – Moscow Ties

Moscow – A prominent Russian correspondent sees the today flourishing in Moscow-Tehran relations as a record brought to both countries due to the efforts of President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

Yevgeny Primakov described such boost in bilateral cooperation as a record set during the past four years.

From the outset of the implementation of the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in January 2016, Moscow and Tehran have witnessed broader relations, the Russian expert told IRNA here.

By lifting all anti-Iran sanctions, the development of bilateral cooperation will accelerate, he said in an exclusive interview.

He went on to say that the use of great capabilities of both countries to strengthen cooperation is on agenda.

Referring to Iran as a great and powerful country in the Middle East region, the well-known Russian expert expressed dissatisfaction over the current flow of information dominated by certain Western media that has made many Russians be uninformed about Iran.

Then, he called on the Russian and Iranian correspondents to introduce the real capabilities of both nations. To achieve the goal, the two need further media cooperation, he added.

Russia and Iran have taken big steps towards strengthening cooperation, the expert noted referring to start of implementation of important projects including launch of the second bloc of Bushehr power plant and Bandar Abbas thermal power plant as the examples of further ties between the two countries in recent years.

About bilateral trade exchange, Primakov said Russia can be a good market for the Iranian products.

Russia, as he said, can also share Iran’s experiences in how to make progress under sanctions conditions to face the West’s anti-Russia bans.

Iran, the Russian expert noted, is the factor of stability in the region, adding that Tehran’s experience in how to solve problems and ensure regional tranquility is invaluable and also useful to halt crises.

Yevgeny Primakov is a prominent Russian journalist and grandson of former and late Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov.
