Rouhani: Iran will announce a new step of reducing its commitments in the nuclear deal soon

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that the implementation of Iran’s third step of reducing commitments in the nuclear deal will be announced soon.

The Assistant for Communications and Information Affairs in the office of President Rouhani Pervez Ismaili tweeted today that President Rouhani said in a cabinet meeting:” We are unlikely to reach to an agreement with Europe today or tomorrow on measures of implementing the nuclear deal… and we will announce the very important third Iranian step, which will give the IAEA activities a special push soon.

Rouhani added that Iran would go ahead and announce its measures to further reduce commitments as the third step in the coming days, seeing as Europe has not made any progress on living up to its own commitments. He said:” Europe would be given another two months to return to its commitments in the nuclear deal and would continue talks to reach an agreement”.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that Iran’s implementation of its obligations depends on ensuring the sale of oil by the Europeans.

He said:”If the Europeans do not take action until tomorrow, Iran will announce the third step in reducing its commitments in the nuclear deal. We have told them very clearly what we expect from them.”
