Rouhani: Iran to Proceed With Nuclear Talks Under Leader Guidance

Tehran – President Hassan Rouhani underlined that the country’s negotiating team will continue its nuclear talks with the world powers under according to the guidelines of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, according to IRNA.

“As the Leader said last night our issue is negotiations; we do not want to merely adopt a stance, but we are looking for serious talks and a fair understanding,” Rouhani said, addressing a fasting feast in Tehran.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, President Rouhani blasted the unfair sanctions imposed against the country, but meantime, underlined that they cannot force Tehran to accept the world powers’ unreasonable demands.

‘Those who have imposed sanctions against Iran have extremely oppressed this nation,’ Rouhani said, addressing a forum in Tehran.

‘But this doesn’t mean surrendering to their (the world powers’) unreasonable words; rather we should move against this problem and make progress step by step,’ he added.

His remarks came as Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) are in negotiations to find ways to settle their differences on Tehran’s nuclear program and remove sanctions.

Important parentheses remain in draft nuclear deal

In the same context, a source close to Iran’s nuclear negotiating team did not comment on remarks concerning progress in drafting the comprehensive nuclear agreement saying there are some parentheses remaining.

Although some parentheses have been removed, important one still remain,’ the source told IRNA.

His comments came after Russian chief negotiator Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday that about 90 percent of the task of drafting the nuclear deal has been achieved.

‘The remarks quoted from various people on the progress in the text of Joint Action Plan can neither be confirmed nor rejected,’ the source added.

It is true that there has been some progress in deletion of parentheses and a considerable part of the text has been wiped out from them, however, the remaining ones are all indications of important and essential issues of difference,’ he said.

According to the source, the progress gained on the text is void of a special value by itself and a quantitative approach in this regard can result in ambiguity.

Iran and P5+1 group of world powers have set July 1 as the deadline to reach an agreement with Iran maintaining that it is after a good deal regardless of time limits.
