Rouhani blames global arrogance and Israel for assassination of Fakhrizadeh

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has blamed global arrogance and the Zionist entity for the assassination of the Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

In a message of condolences to the Iranian nation and to the family of the scientist on Saturday, Rouhani  said that “the goals of such  criminal acts are doomed to failure. The crime is the result of the disability of enemies of the  Iranian people to stop Iran’s scientific research movement. It is also the result of the enemies’ repeated defeats in the region and in political fields”.

“The assassination of Fakhrizadeh won’t stop or weaken the determination of the Iranian youths and scientists to continue with the late scientist’s path and process if scientific development in Iran,” he added.

On his part, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi said that there are serious indications of a Zionist role in the crime of assassinating Fakhrizadeh.

He urged the United Nations and the Security Council to condemn this cowardly act and take necessary measures to punish perpetrators.

He warned the United States and the Zionist entity against any adventure against Iran, particularly during the remaining period of the term of the current US administration.

He reiterated the right of Iran to adopt all necessary procedures to protect and defend its citizens.

The Iranian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that prominent Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was assassinated in a terrorist attack near the capital Tehran.
