Rouhani after US Exit from JCPOA: Iran Will Stay in Nuclear Deal

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has stressed that Tehran has always complied to its commitments to the JCPOA, while the US has never complied with its commitments.

Rouhani made the remarks on Tuesday shortly after US President Donald Trump announced his decision to withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)  and to re-impose sanctions against the Islamic Republic, according to Press TV.

While stressing that Trumps decision was a historical experience for Iran, Rouhani noted that the US president has a history of undermining international treaties. Rouhani also noted that Iran would remain in the nuclear deal without the US’ presence.

Rouhani added that he has ordered the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) to be prepared for resuming nuclear enrichment at the industrial level.

“I have ordered AEOI to go ahead with adequate preparations to resume enrichment at the industrial level without any limit,” he said.

He further added that from now on everything depends on Iran’s national interests.

“Trump’s decision was the beginning of a psychological war against Iran, our heroic people will not be affected by this psychological attack,” said Rouhani.

Rouhani also noted that from now on the JCPOA is between and the five remaining countries.

He further noted that the Iranian Foreign Ministry would be to negotiating with European countries, Russia, China in coming weeks.

Earlier, in a televised address from the White House on Tuesday, Trump said “I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.”

“In a few moments, I will sign a presidential memorandum to begin reinstating US nuclear sanctions on the Iranian regime. We will be instituting the highest level of economic sanctions.”

The European Union, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany have expressed regret over Trump’s decision about the deal.

EU determined to preserve the JCPOA: Mogherini

The European Union’s diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini has said the bloc is “determined to preserve” the Iran nuclear deal.

Mogherini made the remarks on Tuesday shortly after US President Donald Trump announced his decision to withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA.)

The 2015 agreement “is delivering on its goal which is guaranteeing that Iran doesn’t develop nuclear weapons, the European Union is determined to preserve it,” Mogherini added, warning that she was “particularly worried” by the US’ announcement of fresh sanctions.

Nuclear non-proliferation regime is at stake: Macron

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron said that France, Germany and Britain regretted Trump’s decision to pull out from JCPOA. “France, Germany, and the UK regret the US decision to leave the JCPOA. The nuclear non-proliferation regime is at stake,” he twitted.

“We will work collectively on a broader framework, covering nuclear activity, the post-2025 period, ballistic activity, and stability in the Middle-East, notably Syria, Yemen, and Iraq,” he added.

Iran has on numerous occasions asserted that its nuclear program is merely peaceful and not meant to make nukes.

US Democrats rebuke Trump, Republicans over US withdrawal from Iran deal

US Democratic lawmakers censure President Donald Trump and Republicans for Washington’s withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal, calling on the American people to “vote them all out” over the measure.

“Trump and his Republicans will go down in history as the party that destroyed our country’s credibility, ruined our global reputation, and made the world a more dangerous place — all to sabotage President Obama’s legacy. Vote them all out. Every single one,” the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) tweeted immediately after Trump announced the US withdrawal from the deal.
