Cristiano Ronaldo was again the headline act as Real Madrid concluded their pre-season campaign with a comprehensive victory over Inter Milan.
Kaka’s header opened the scoring in the 11th minute for the Spanish giants who had won five of their six pre-season games, including one against Cheslea.
The attendance of 54,184 was the largest ever for a football match in St Louis, though about 13,000 shy of capacity at the Edward Jones Dome.
Play was interrupted for several minutes in the second half when several fans dashed onto the field to shake hands with or even hug Real Madrid players.
Inter Milan tested Real Madrid keeper Diego Lopez several times in the second half, including two good chances from Alvarez and one rifled over the crossbar by Rodrigo Palacio, the team’s leading scorer last season.
Ronaldo played the first half and made it 2-0 shortly before the break when he took a pass from Casemiro in the area in stride and ripped a one-timer past diving goalie Samir Handanovic.
The third goal arrived 20 minutes from time when a corner kick was deflected in via Ricardo Alvarez.
