Romania hosts exhibition featuring Syria’s civilization

Syrian Embassy in Romania and Syrian Tourism Ministry have organized a big  Syrian tourist and cultural activity in a library in Baia Mare municipality.

The activity, kicked off last Thursday, includes an exhibition depicting Syria’s civilizations, culture and ancient monuments, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency quoted director of the municipality’s library TeodorArdelean as saying that he benefited greatly from his visit to Syria because he understood the political situation in the Middle East, especially the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Ardelean, who was a member of the Senate of Romania, expressed admiration for Syria’s deep-rooted civilization, particularly Palmyra and Damascus cities.

On his part, President of Baia Mare municipality council Valerie Gabriel Zeta referred to the historic relations between Romanian and Syria, saying that the first printing machine in Arabic letter was given to Syria from Prince Prinkofano in 15th century AD.

Representative of Syrian embassy thanked municipality council and the Romanian cultural Bruimma house for hosting the cultural activity, which will last till April 27th.

Romanian writers, actors and actresses plus many officials and citizens attended the opening ceremony of the activity during which a film on Syria was screened and a book written by the Syrian author Colette Khoury  was signed.
