Rodriguez: US sanctions against Venezuela have united its people to build an independent economy

Caracas, (ST) –  Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez affirmed that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States on Venezuela have strengthened the Venezuelans’ determination and unity to build a new, diversified and independent economic model.

“We have achieved political independence, but we must go further and move towards economic independence,” Xinhua quoted Rodriguez as saying from Caracas.

She added: “If there is anything that can put this immoral economic blockade against Venezuela to the test, it is the determination of our people to achieve economic independence and build a new, diverse and pluralistic model.”

The Venezuelan official reaffirmed the country’s unity in rejecting the brutal and unilateral coercive measures of the United States.

Last month, the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strong rejection of Washington renewing the unilateral sanctions it has imposed on the Venezuelan people since 2015. It stressed that the White House missed the opportunity to correct its previous mistakes.

“US has now chosen to continue its economic terrorism through more than 930 actions against our country, and the United States has itself become hostage of its own policies of aggression”, the Ministry added .
