Riyadh main suspect of Tehran terror attacks

TEHRAN– Parliament official Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Saudi Arabia is the main suspect of the dual terrorist attacks on Tehran on June 7 which killed 17 people and injured dozens more.

“Bandar, Riyadh intelligence chief, had directed November 2013 terrorist attack on Iranian embassy in Beirut. Now, Riyadh is the main suspect of Tehran terrorist attacks,” Iranian Parliament’s General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in a tweet on Wednesday, according to the Mehr News agency.

On November 19, 2013, two suicide bombers launched deadly attacks on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut, killing 23 people including Iranian cultural attaché Ebrahim Ansari, and injuring more than 146 people. Lebanese sources uncovered information that one of the terrorists, Majed al-Majed, the Saudi leader of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, a group affiliated with al-Qaeda, had took orders from Saudi Spy Chief Bandar bin Sultan.

On June 7, 2017, six ISIL terrorists launched attacks on Iranian parliament and the shrine of Imam Khomeini, killing 17 people and injuring 50 others. IRGC commander Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari said Tuesday that they had obtained accurate intelligence that Saudi Arabia had supported the terrorists and asked them to carry out attacks in Iran.

Foreign Minister Zarif also referred to Saudi Arabia’s complicity in Tehran attacks during his address at the Oslo Forum on Tuesday.

Saudi officials have recently made highly provocative threats against Iran, saying they would take the battle inside Iran, and Iran had to be “punished” for what Saudi FM called “its interference in the region” in a tweet hours before the attacks on Tehran.
