The Higher Judicial Committee for Elections announced the results of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) elections for the 4th legislative term which were held on Monday, July 15, 2024.
Chairman of the Committee Jihad Murad said in a news conference on Thursday that the elections were held within a democratic atmosphere and the committee took all procedures to guarantee the freedom of voters to choose their candidates and to secure honest elections.
He noted the interaction of voters and their keenness on practicing their electoral right democratically.
Murad pointed out that winners of the People Assembly seats are efficient and they enjoy the necessary competencies, experiences and social acceptance, which help the new People’s Assembly perform its national role in full.
According to Murad, the participation rate in the elections reached 38.16 percent, pointing out that candidates can submit their objections about the election results to the Supreme Constitutional Court on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Voting for the People’s Assembly elections for the 4th legislative term ended at nine o’clock last Monday evening in the 8,151 polling stations in the governorates. 1,516 candidates competed to win membership in the People’s Assembly which consists of 250 seats.
