Restoration works in the Museum of Folk Traditions in Aleppo continue

With a fast pace the restoration work of the Museum of Folk Traditions continues in Al- Jdidah neighborhood. The museum   is  considered one of the historic houses of Aleppo  which  was vandalized and destroyed as a result of the terrorist war on Syria. 
 
 Eng.  Pierre Ghassan Zarz, the contractor of the restoration project , which is carried out  in cooperation with the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums in Aleppo  told SANA  that the restoration works   are currently underway in their second phase, that  includes the courtyard of the house, which is distinguished by its unique decorations.The aim is to restore it to what it was, with specialized local expertise. 
 
Engineer Zarz added  that the restoration  acts  include sculptural works  of  stones and construction work for facades and ceilings, with great care to heritage details, especially the old ornate stones. 
 
He  stressed  that the second phase of the restoration work will be completed within 10 days.   
 
Zarz  pointed out that the  Museum of  folk  Traditions  is one of the most important monuments that attract visitors from all over the world, due to its unique architecture and decorations. 
 
With a hammer and a chisel, the sculptor Omar Walid Sahrij sculpts the stones to make them resemble the original archaeological stones, stressing that the restoration work is carried out with great care , in addition to carving new stones with the same ancient archaeological decorations by hand, carefully and thoughtfully.
