Restoration of schools in Aleppo in addition to 40 new schools

The School Buildings Department in Aleppo Education Directorate continues the rehabilitation and maintenance work of schools that have been damaged as a result of terrorist attacks in the countryside and the city, as part of the Ministry of Education’s plan in this regard.

Head of Aleppo Education Directorate Ibrahim Maso confirmed in a statement to SANA the directorate’s keenness to expedite the repair work to address the problem of classroom density and achieve the quality of education, referring to the Ministry’s endeavor to secure all the requirements of the educational process.

With the beginning of the second semester of this academic year, Maso noted that 40 new schools will be put into service with the end of maintenance work.

He indicated that the number of schools in Aleppo before the war was 4,040 schools. The number of schools that were maintained and rehabilitated after the city was liberated from terrorism amounted to 488 schools, 168 of which were in the city and 320 in the liberated countryside.  The total number of schools which have been opened since liberation until the start of Academic year 2020-2021 amounted to 1620 schools.
