IDLEB– The Syrian Arab Army and the supporting forces have established full control over the strategic Abu al-Dhohour airport, the second major military base in southeastern countryside of Idleb, a SANA report said.
In less than a month of launching their military operations in triangle of countryside region between Hama, Idleb and Aleppo provinces, the army units regained Abu al-Dhohour airbase and liberated tens of towns and villages from Jabhat al-Nusra and affiliated terrorist groups.
SANA toured the airport and met several field commanders who explained the collapsed terrorist groups’ desperate attempts to prevent the Syrian army’s advance using landmines and explosive devices, hailing the joint efforts exerted by engineering units who worked side by side with storm troops on the frontlines to gain access to the airport from the southeastern part and re-establish control over it within few hours.
The commanders indicated that since 2015, Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization has exploited the airbase strategic position to launch attacks against civilians in safe villages, towns and cities in the neighboring areas.
They noted that the new achievement of restoring Abu al-Dhohour airport, pounding terrorists’ hideouts and dens in dozens of village, will speed up the army’s progress in the eastern countryside of Idleb province and pave the way for fully liberating it from terrorism.
