Resolution No.2254 Affirms Illegitimacy of Occupying Any Part of Syria: Zakharova

MOSCOW-Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that UN Security Council resolution No. 2254 affirms respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Resolution No.2254 frankly stipulates the necessity for respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and this indicates illegitimacy of occupying any part of its territories, starting from Golan and reaching to the utmost point in the East of the Euphrates,” Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of Russian Foreign Ministry said at her weekly press conference, according to SANA.

She added that normal life has begun to return in most of the Syrian territory, except in some areas where terrorists exist, particularly in Idleb, al-Jazeera and in the southern region.

Zakharova criticized a statement lately issued by the US, Britain and France as they deliberately ignore the positive developments and the stability in Syria in addition to politicizing the issue of refugees’ return.
