The Red Cross Society of China today announced that it has sent a team of rescue workers with the first batch of medical supplies to Syria to assist in relief operations and to face the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria.
Xinhua News Agency said that the Society sent supplies that meet the needs of about 5,000 people, at the request of the Syrian embassy in Beijing and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
The Society had previously announced a donation of $200,000 to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent as emergency humanitarian aid, noting that it would keep pace with the humanitarian needs in the affected areas and continue to provide humanitarian aid.
