Representing President Bashar Al-Assad, Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam participated today with official, artistic, cultural, media and religious figures and popular crowds in the funeral of the late great artist Sabah Fakhri.
SANA correspondents reported that the body of the great artist, Sabah Fakhri, left Al-Shami Hospital, wrapped in the national flag and carried on the shoulders towards the Umayyad Square in a solemn and massive procession.
From the Umayyad Square, the body of the late was carried to the car that would carry his coffin to his hometown of Aleppo. The funeral procession roamed the main streets of Damascus, passing through the President’s Bridge, Al-Thawra Street, and Al-Adawi Highway. Prayers will be held over his body after the afternoon prayer at Abdullah bin Abbas Mosque in Aleppo to be buried in the modern cemetery.
