Representing President Al-Assad, Maj. Gen. Mamlouk Takes Part in funeral of Gen. Soleimani

TEHRAN, (ST)- Representing President Bashar Al-Assad, National Security Chief, Maj. Gen. Ali Mamlouk on Monday took part in the funeral of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani , Commander of al-Quds Force and his companions who were martyred Friday as a result of a US airstrike near Baghdad International Airport.

The funeral was attended by the leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, senior Iranian officials and millions of Iranians.

Major General Mamlouk conveyed President Al-Assad’s condolences to Sayyed Khamenei on the martyrdom of Soleimani who assisted the Syrian Arab Army in the war on terrorism and its supporters and who defended the values of right and dignity against aggression and hegemony.

 Sayyed Khamenei thanked President Al-Assad for his noble feelings and heartfelt condolences, stressing that the martyrdom of Soleimani and his companions will enhance resistance and its strategic achievements in the region. He told Maj. Gen Mamlouk that coordination between Iran and Syria will continue till the complete elimination of terrorism and the restoration of security and stability to all the Syrian territories.

On Sunday, Major General Mamlouk started a visit to Tehran. He met Secretary of the Supreme Council for National Security of Iran Ali Shamkhani.

He conveyed President Al-Assad’s warm condolences to the leadership, government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the martyrdom of Soleimani.

The two sides discussed joint coordination in the coming stage and emphasized that the martyrdom of General Soleimani will increase the two countries’ adherence to resistance.
