Representing President Al-Assad, Engineer Khamis offers condolences to President Rouhani for the martyrdom of General Soleimani
Representing President Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Eng. Imad Khamis offered in Tehran today condolences to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the Iranian people over the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani.
During the meeting, President Rouhani expressed his appreciation for the sympathy and solidarity of Syria , noting that Washington assassinated General Soleimani because he was a supporter of the people of the region.
Rouhani stressed the support of the leadership and people of Iran to Syria in the face of terrorism and the economic blockade imposed on it.
The Iranian President indicated that it is now important for the reconstruction phase in Syria to begin and life to return to normal, confirming that the deep-rooted Syrian-Iranian relations will continue to follow in the same path.
For his part, Eng. Khamis affirmed that Syria stood by Iran in light of the conditions the region is going through and supported its right to defend itself, noting that the current conditions require further development of joint cooperation in all fields.
Eng. Khamis expressed thanks to the government and people of Iran for standing with Syria in its war against terrorism, underlining the need to continue to eradicate terrorism and liberate the region from it.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Defense General Ali Ayoub, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Construction Mohammad Islami, the Syrian ambassador to Iran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud and the Iranian Ambassador to Syria Jawad Turk Abadi.
In a statement to the media after the meeting, Eng. Khamis said: “We came today at the head of an official delegation, commissioned by President Bashar al-Assad, to convey condolences to our brothers in Iran for the martyrdom of General Soleimani”.
Eng. Khamis highlighted the great role played by the martyr Soleimani in combating terrorism and the forces of evil that have wreaked havoc in the region.
Meanwhile, Eng. Khamis and Minister Ayoub offered condolences to the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Major General Hussein Salami, for the martyrdom of General Soleimani.
Eng. Khamis stated that Washington committed a criminal act by assassinating General Soleimani and exposed security and stability in the region to danger, indicating that the countries and the free spirited people of the region are aware of the sacrifices of the martyr Soleimani that stepped up the march of resistance.
For his part, Major General Salami referred to the role of the martyr Soleimani in combating terrorism in a number of countries of the region, stressing the continuity of the path and approach of resistance and the commitment of Iran to realize this target.
The Syrian Ambassador to Iran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud attended the meeting.
