Representatives of China and Iran: Justice is too late in Palestine.. Gaza tragedy must be put to an end
The International Court of Justice in the Hague continued its public hearings for the fourth day on the legal consequences arising from Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Al-Quds
The Chinese representative said in his briefing before the court: We support the rights of the Palestinian people, especially the establishment of their independent state, and we call on the Court of Justice to issue an advisory opinion on the Palestinian issue, and to work to realize the rights of the Palestinian people, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law that guarantees the rights of peoples under colonialism and occupation.
The Chinese representative stressed that resistance is a right of people living under colonialism, and does not contradict international law, calling on the international community and its international institutions and organizations to work to support the rights of the Palestinian people, for which they have been fighting for decades.
The Chinese representative reiterated the illegality of occupation, which violates international rules and laws, as confirmed by United Nations resolutions, noting that this occupation has robbed the Palestinian people of all rights guaranteed by international law, and that justice has been long overdue in Palestine.
For his part, the Iranian representative stressed the necessity of putting an end to the tragedy of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which is a tragedy for all of humanity, noting that the Israeli occupation is waging its aggression against two million Palestinians, and is trying to eliminate them after destroying the infrastructure in the Strip.
the Iranian representative explained that the United Nations affirmed through its resolutions the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, and that the occupation violates the rights of the Palestinian people even though this is a right for all peoples without any external interference, pointing out that the occupation prevents aid from reaching the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and kills more than 200 of them.
The Iranian representative called on the United Nations to stop the genocide practiced by the occupation against the Palestinians, stressing the illegitimacy of the occupation and the necessity of punishing Israel for the crimes it commits, and binding it to adhere to international resolutions to stop the tragedy of Gaza, which is a tragedy for all of humanity.
On the first day of public sessions last Monday, the court heard the plea of the State of Palestine, and in the second session held on Tuesday, South Africa, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia and Chile presented their briefs before the court, while Russia, Egypt, the Emirates, the United States, Cuba, Colombia, France, Hungary and Gambia presented their briefs yesterday.
The public sessions will continue until next Monday, and come in the context of the United Nations General Assembly’s request to obtain an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the Israeli colonial occupation of the State of Palestine, including Jerusalem.
