Removing Obstacles to JCPOA Implementation Agenda of Iran-G5+1 Commission

Vienna–   Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Tuesday that removal of the obstacles on the way of implementation of the nuclear deal – known as JCPOA – is the agenda of the joint commission session underway in the Austrian capital.

The joint commission session will be a unique opportunity for the states parties to JCPOA to review implementation of the deal at bilateral and multilateral levels.

The joint commission session will decide on the obstacles arising in implementation of the nuclear deal, Araqchi said.

‘We had two commission sessions before the JCPOA implementation and this is the second joint session after the implementation of the deal,’ he said.

‘The obstacles on the way of the lifting of sanctions, that are not few and we have repeatedly referred to them, will be naturally discussed in the commission session.’

Referring to the obstacles on the way of Iran’s banking relations with the world, Araqchisaid: ‘Restarting banking links and other obstacles and problems occurred while implementing the JCPOA, about which we have concerns, will also be raised to find a way out for them.’

He said that Iran and the G5+1 will also discuss the problems and technical issues about Iran’s commitment to its promises and the misunderstandings that may occur about the implementation of technical aspects of the JCPOA between Iran and the IAEA or between the IAEA and the G5+1.

Iran seeks explanations from US on regulating banking ties–Araqchi

Chief negotiator of the Iranian delegation Abbas Araqchi said on Tuesday that Iran sought explanations from the US on regulating banking ties with Iran.

G5+1 has no identical understanding of the issue and each country expresses its own views, he said.

Some believe that the US Treasury Department has created an ambiguous situation and avoids to shed light on the issue for the companies willing to do business with Iran, he said.

Explanations should help remove existing doubts and ambiguities in broadening economic and banking cooperation with Iran, he said.

The current meetings give all sides a good opportunity to mull removal of hurdles on the way of sound implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Araqchi said.

The Iranian agenda is to do its best to remove all concerns in reestablishing economic and banking cooperation with the outside world.
