The General Organization of Remote Sensing (GORS) and Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dray Lands (ACSAD) on Monday signed a cooperation agreement on exchanging expertise, information and space data, for establishing joint action platforms that aim at protecting and managing natural resources and for preparing spatial digital databases to serve sustainable development Proper utilization of resources .
The agreement provides for cooperation in developing the use of remote sensing technology for scientific purposes to support sustainable development, encourage innovation, provide training for national technical cadres and enhance their scientific and applied skills and in implementing joint projects on lands, climate change, water and vegetation.
In a statement following the signing ceremony, Director General of the GORS Abdul Majid Al-Kafri said that the agreement marks a new beginning of the Syrian government cooperation with ACSAD with the aim of boosting agricultural scientific research.
On his part, Nasruddin Al-Obeid, ACSAD’s Director General, stressed the importance of cooperation between Arab institutions with the aim of developing agricultural scientific research, expressing the center’s willingness to enhance cooperation with the GORS in order to serve sustainable development in Syria and other Arab countries.
