DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban has stressed that the Arab region is currently witnessing the disastrous results of the so-called “Arab Spring” which hit some Arab states, stressing the need for drawing up viable plans to confront schemes against the region.
Shaaban was speaking during a dialogue conference organized in Damascus by the “Homeland Document Foundation” under the title “Arab Situation Hundred Years After Balfour Declaration..Benefitting from Lessons of the Past to Build Better Future.
A number of Arab writers and intellectual took part in the event.
Dr. Shaaban said holding this dialogue conference aims at discussing the reasons behind the current deteriorating situation of the Arab nation, noting the internal gaps that allowed anti-Arab schemes plotters to penetrate the region and implement their plans.
“The current situation is not because of only foreign reasons. We know that western colonialism wars on the region led to implementing Sykes-Picot agreement and the ill-famed Balfour Declaration and that there were many internal gaps through which the architects of these schemes managed to penetrate and exploit in implementing their plots,” Shaaban said.
Established in June 2016, “The Homeland Document Foundation”, as Shaaban said, seeks in its first project to document what Syria has experienced over the past seven years and the contributions of the elite figures to the homeland’s dignity.
She went on to say that this objective, clear, constructive and organized dialogue also aims to set better bases for the next generation and to draw up an Arab strategy for decision makers .
Shaaban criticized the state of division and subordination as well as the weak economies in the Arab world, calling for enhancing the concept of citizenship and fortifying political and intellectual situation in order to protect homelands and citizens.
She urged national Arab businessmen to support studies centers and intellectuals as to “resist not only the Zionist enemy and its lies, but also the petrodollars’ lies which aim at distorting our history and serve our enemies.”
