On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, the “Development for Good” Association held a recreational event called “Farah” (Joy) targeting 600 orphans enrolled in the association as well as 125 breadwinner mothers.
The event, held at Lahn Al-Hayat Complex in Qudsayya suburb in Damascus Countryside, included recreational, artistic and cultural activities, including songs, dances and competitions for the children and dialogue sessions for the mothers.
In a statement to SANA, Director of Social Affairs and Labour in Damascus Dalin Fahd stressed the importance and positive effect of these activities as they enhance the children’s skills.
She pointed out that the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour is keen on supporting the role of the civil society institutions in holding certain activities that target orphans with the aim of strengthening their personality.
For his part, Chairman of the Board of the “Development for Good” Association Anas Sabbagh said the event aimed at bringing happiness and joy to the hearts of these orphaned children during Eid Al-Adha.
He pointed out that the association provides relief as well as social and health care to more than 500 families, 600 students and 600 orphans.
It is to be noted that the association was established in 2006 with programs as well as educational and health projects that aim at providing care and support for orphans and breadwinner women.
