HOMS– A reconciliation agreement was reached on Monday in al-Waer neighborhood on the western outskirts of Homs city, SANA reported.
According to the agreement, the legal status of the militants in the neighborhood will be settled while those who reject reconciliations will be evacuated from it along with their families in preparation for the return of the government institutions to it.
SANA’s reporter in Homs said that the agreement was reached in coordination with the military and security committee in Homs and the Hmeimim-based Russian Reconciliation Center.
He added that the evacuation of militants who refuse to settle their legal status will start next Saturday and be carried out during a period that doesn’t exceed two months, and they will be sent north.
The reporter noted that after the evacuating of militants and their families, all government institutions will return to the neighborhood and work to carry out repairs and maintenance to citizens’ houses and the infrastructure will start.
Al-Waer is the last neighborhood in Homs city where armed groups are positioned. The rest of the armed groups that had been present in the city before were evacuated from the Old City in March 2014.
