The Daraa Agriculture Directorate said that the area planted with irrigated wheat this season reached 9,204 hectares out of the planned 10,000 hectares, with a 92 percent implementation rate. The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Ahed al-Zoubi,said in a statement to a SANA correspondent today that the planned area for rainfed wheat reached 86,317hectares, of which 41,299 hectares have been planted, with a 47.8 percent implementation rate. He added that the lack of and delayed rainfall contributed to the low implementation rate of rainfed wheat cultivation and the early emergence of some planted areas. Regarding the barley crop, Al-Zoubi explained that early planting and poor rainfall had a negative impact on the crop, and led to large areas being out of production. He pointed out that the planned area for the barley crop amounted to 38,976 hectares, of which 19,207 hectares were implemented, with an implementation rate of 49.2 percent
